Auchnabreac Cottage AR00701F

Lovely two bedroomed cottage perfectly located off the beaten track in the heart of Kintyre.

Lesley and Geoff + (Betty, Rona and Oti) April 2023

Thank you for a really lovely week in your cottage.  You very kindly allowed us to bring our whole family of dogs and they absolutely loved it.  They had a wonderful time on the beaches, particularly Carradale and Saddell.  They loved meeting your lambs and we loved helping with the bottle feeding.  Watching the gannets diving at Campbeltown Harbour was a highlight.  Your open hearted hospitality is very special.

Stu, Jules and Ruby April 2023

Words won't give your cottage or hospitality any justice.  We have had the very best time at Auchnabreac.  Already looking forward to next year and sharing it again

Amanda and Nigel Baker  - Feb 2023

A wonderful cottage in a magical setting.  We've had a restful and peaceful week exploring the area and being able to come back to a cosy evening by the fire and a comfortable bed.  Love the thoughtful touches of fresh bread - delicious and local milk and honey.  We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Auchnabreac to friends and family and would return without a doubt.

Jennie, Adrian, Abigail and Isla Hart - Lochgoilhead Jan 2023

We have ahd a wonderful stay, such a comfortable, cosy cottage.  We have loved relaxing with the girls, playing games together and long walks with Arto. It has been the perfect place to get away from it all for a few days.   Arto has had the time of his life running around on the various walks.

Sarah, Andrew, Lottie and Winnie Dec 2022

We have had the best holiday EVER.  The peace and solitude at this wonderful cottage has been exactly what we dreamed it would be.  The hospitality was above and beyond expectations and we are truly grateful to have had this experience.  We will see you summer 2023.

Donald and Lindsay Blair - Edinburgh  July 2020

We were here for 9 days in July and had a wonderful time.  Kintyre is such a truly magical place.  Our hosts Iain and Margaret greeted us with a kind and generous hospitality which made us feel totally at home from the moment we arrived.  The place is finished to such a high specification that it never feels like a holiday cottage - every aspect of the place reveals a care and attention to detail that is contrary to all our previous experience of the holiday letting industry.  Loved the bench where we had breakfast, loved the stove, loved the floors, loved the individuality of the furniture, the thick towels and the comfortable bed, but most of all the generosity of the people who run it.

Iggy, Divya, Mads, Tara & Oscar  Wimbledon  July 2020

A million thanks for your amazing hospitality during our stay - we couldn't have imagined anything better had we tried - and would have loved to have stayed for another week.  We'll most certainly be back and will miss you and this place until then.

Owen and Rachel - Eaglesham July 2020

To our new four- legged and two-legged friends.  To describe you as "hospitable" would be an injustice.  Rachel and I are in agreement that this is by far the best holiday cottage experience we've had.  From the freshly baked loaf on arrival to the very welcome bottle of Proseco on my birthday, you really went above, beyond, over the hill and back again.  We will be back.

Josh, Olivia and Lottie Aug 2020

We have loved every minute of our stay at Auchnabreac. We were made to feel at home the second we arrived and your generosity and kindness made our stay more perfect.  The cottage is just amazing, everything is so personal and comfortable -  a home from home.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to be back - thank you so much and see you soon.

Thank you for sharing this slice of heaven with us.  The cottage is beautiful, warm and equipped with everything we could ever need.  The windows are picture frames to a wilderness of absolute beauty.  We have spent the week watching the birds during the day and the milky way at night.

The hospitality you have shown us will be forever in our memories.  Your generosity and the time you have given us have been greatly appreciated.  Sharing your knowledge and stories have made this stay so special.  You will both always be welcome in Yorkshire where we can try to return some of the hospitality you have shown us.  We will be back in 2021.  The warmest of thanks.  Special thanks to Breagha for showing us the way home.

November 2020 Hazel and Amy + Syd

To Iain and Margaret and of course the beautiful Breagha.  Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality!  We couldn't have felt more welcome.  A G&T after such a long drive was one of the most welcome sights we'd ever seen and the conversation that followed was lovely and much appreciated.  The cottage is lovely, a real home away from home.

Laura and John Gibson Ayr May 2021

What can I say that hasn't already been said.  The first guests at Auchnabreac after a year of turmoil and lockdowns.  This is the most stunning cottage in the most beautiful of settings.  Absolutely every last touch has been carefully and thoughfully planned and we couldn't have asked for more.  We cannot thank you enough for making us feel so very welcome. Thank you to the amazing Breagha for the bouncy welcome and for allowing our two collies to join her for walks and even let them clear her dishes! Will definitely be returning.

Kirstry and Chris  East Kilbride.  May 2021

What a find!  Thank you to Iain and margaret for the care and consideration you put into our welcome and stay.  We expected a good holiday we did not expect to make new friends (bats, dogs and wee birdies included).  We will see you again soon.  Many thanks.

As the saying goes "don't count the days, make the days count".  Well you truly do this when you spend a week at Auchnabreac.  Thank you again for your amazing hospitality and friendship.  The kindness you have shown us, from whisy & G&T's to fishing lessons has again made our week memorable.  We will count down the days to our return.

May-June 2021 Dominic and James  London.

Bliss to escape Covid world to this haven.  Thank you margaret and Iain and the menagerie: tips, information & swapping stories - this is what it's all about.

Our favourites - kind of every single day was brilliant but a day ferry to Lochranza& Arran Distillery, everything out at Skipness.  Deer hill walk & Carradale Beach, Machrihanaish beach and seals, Dun Skeig at Clachan & the friendly excellent fishmonger in Tarbert.

Eileen & Kathleen June 2021

Iain and Margaret could not have been more welcoming, considerate and ready to help.  We also enjoyed meeting Breagha.  It has been a lovely holiday.

Pip & Sarah from Surrey June 2021

Thank you for going out of your way to offer us friendship and comfort whilst we have been here - we were blown away by the lovely flowers, wine, bread and local milk, not to mention frshly baked scones and a few drinks with you both on the first evening - magic!

Thank you both for your warmth and hospitality. Your scones and home made preserves are amazing!  It was lovely to spend some time with you on our first evening and really appreciated the tour of the farm and your tips for fun days out.  It is so peaceful and quiet here - such a relaxing escape for us both, so thanks to you both and the animals.  We had a day on Arran - fully recommend.  We wne to the Arran Distilllery and did a chocolate and whisky tasting, walked to the Machrie Moor, went to Campbeltown and Davaar Island to see the caves, walked Kirnashie walk and spent a lovely few hours on Torrisdale beach.  Massive love for the Drumfearne tearoom- went there twice!

Angus, Sarah & Pete  June 2021  Aberdeen

Thank you so much for the amazing hospitality during our stay.  The cottage exceeded our expectations and was the perfect romantic getaway for our honeymoon.  Going "off the grid" for a few days was exactly what we needed - and we slept so well for it.  Lots of great walks and interesting things to do nearby but equally enjoyable to just sit in the garden with a book.  Pete will miss Breagha and watching the cats from the window - he is not used to neighbours.  A wonderful saty with excellent hosts.

Stuart, Lisa and Anna July 2021

What a lovely 8 days we have had at your beautiful, tranquil cottage.  Lovely welcome with scones, wine flowers and freshly picked strawberries. Advicce for visiting, information in the cottage and the very generous sharing of your time was greatly appreciated.  Visited Arran and the Isle of Gigha, Carradale, Grogport and of course Campbeltown.  Anna made us stop at numerous beaches- make sure and visit the beach at Carradale - absolutley stunning, secluded long sandy beach.  Location, cottage, atmosphere second to none we have ever visited  Loved our stay - thank you for letting us visit.

Alison, Fraser and Harv  Aberdeen July 2021

Thank you for a memorable and enjoyable stay in your lovely cottage - we loved it.  Thanks too for your hospitality - the flowers, the wine, the strawberries and tomatoes.  The scenery and beaches here are fabulous and we enjoyed all the eateries you suggested.  Last but not least we will miss our neighbours (Fergus, Findlay and of course the lovely Fraser) the Highland cattle.

 July 2021  The Wilsons

The week we have spent here has been amazing.  From the moment we arrived and the G&T's and fresh bread we knew we had made the right choice.  The past 18 months have been tough for us all but being here has reinforced the importance of family time, clearing your head and relaxing.  Iain and Margaret are eager to please but they need do nothing else but be themselves.  We will definitely be back.

October 2021 Mik & Wilma

It is not simply the beautiful, cosy well equipped cottage with reflective evenings in front of the log burner, or the welcoming, generous accommodating hosts.  Nor is it just the varied, breathtaking scenery and spectacular vist's. or the peaceful ambience that envelopes you.  No. It is the "package" that makes Auchnabreac such a unique and incredible experience..... a haven to rechatrge.  Thank you both so very much for such an inspiring, nurturing and memorable experience.....an opportunity to share with you your wonderful niche.  Special thanks to Breagha for your patience.

March 2022  Emma, Paul, Alice & Otis  Manchester

We love travelling our amazing island because it is full of wonderful surprises and wonderful people, but when we arrived at your gorgeous cottage on a dark March evening to a pre-lit roaring wood fire, fresh spring flowers, wine and home cooked scones, we already knew we had found our best cottage yet.

Thank you for your company, your recipe tips and your advice on everything from local walks and produce suppliers to how to cook the perfect fish soup.  The cottage is so beautifully converted, airy and spacious but also cosy.  I was a bit jealous of my daughter having the upstairs bedroom with its view of the stars!

Andrew, Kirstie, Rachel, Colette & Morlich  Dalgety Bay  April 2022

What a beautiful cottage in the most fantastic of settings.  We have had the most relaxing time in this tranquil of settings.  Morlich really got to stretch his legs especially in the field with Breagha,

Drew, Linda Tess and Lily  Norfolk May 2022

Wow, what a fantastic week.  Iain and margaret have been extremely generous and kind and are perfectly suited to hospitality in its truest sense.  Thay have created a warm, cosy home for us all to enjoy & come to love.  The views from the well looked after garden are amazing.  It is the perfect base for touring.  We were here for a week and experienced mixed weather but that did not stop us from a tour of Arran and a tour of Islay.  The latter was done by hiring a taxi, which we would thoroughly recommend.  The amentities in the cottage are good, lovely hot showers every morning and a taosty log fire in the evening.  The dogs were well catered for and enjoyed their play in the garden and walks with Iain and Breagha.  We even ventured along the single track road to Southend and beyond.

Ruth & Clare Kinniburgh + Ruby  May 2022

Jackie, Pauline & Ruby Aug 2022

Had a lovely stay.  Cottage was perfect.  Margaret and Iain were perfect hosts.  Recommend the Boat House on Gigha for food, Amazing! 7 the perfect location.  Gigha is worth a visit, twin beaches & viewpoint in the gardens is lovely.  Also recommend Southend and the Mull of Kintyre, Carradale Beach and Westport Beach. Only downside was not a lot of dog friendly places but ok if you are sitting outside.

Johanna, Oliver, Sebastian and Almut August 2022 Germany Hamburg

Thank you so much for a wonderful week.  You made us feel so welcome with home baked bread and flowers waiting in your beautiful cottage.  We have loved the peace and stunning nature and would have liked to have had much more time to explore and enjoy.  For Johanna, her walks with Iain and Breagha and feeding the lambs were the best part of her holiday.  Oliver took some photographs of the wildlife and spent much time drawing the animals.  We had to promise ourselves to come back to this wonderful part of the world to make it possible to leave and travel back home.  Thank you Iain and Margaret for all the lovely memories we'll take home with us.

Caroline, Gert & Sibbe August 2022  Holland

Thank you for the wonderful time at Auchnabreac cottage.  This place will always be in our heart.  The lovely views, the quietness, the little birds flying over the fields, the sheep in the meadows.  We enjoyed the walks along the river and around the fields.  The nice views from the Mull of Kintyre we will not forget and the Skipness Seafood Cabin was a great place to be with nice fresh seafood.  Your homemade bread was delicious and the fresh picked chanterelles were mouthwatering.  Thank you.

Your cottage is amazing.  It has let us have the best possible experience ever here in Scotland.  We couldn't have wished for more.  The highlight of the trip for me was the night time safari, seeing all of the beautiful wildlife. It was definitely a wonderful and memorable experience that I will never forget. Even though the safari came 1st the star gazing and the beautiful beaches are a close second.  Thank you for your great hopsitality, your recipe tips (the bread was delicious, it is now a breakfast favourite) and finally advice on good walks.  Thank you so much, we can't wait to come back soon.
